Gum Line Corrections

The “Gum Lift”, An innovative way to treat some smile problems.

Esthetic dentistry has come a long way over the years. The art of improving smiles goes far beyond just straight white teeth. Sometimes, smile problems can involve the appearance of the gum line.

Esthetic problems such as the “gummy” smile, where someone shows a lot of gum above the teeth when they smile or an irregular gum line can spoil an otherwise great grin. These problems can be corrected with periodontal plastic surgery right here in the office either as a stand alone procedure or in combination with other restorative work such as veneers.

To do this, we first determine what needs to be done by taking digital photographs that are then transferred to our imaging program. With photos in hand, we perform a computerized smile analysis. Next we make corrections in the computer in order to preview what the results could be. Then the procedure is done on a model of the teeth just to be sure that what was created in the computer can actually be done. From there a plan is then created and measurements are taken in order to accurately make the corrections.
